WWc. Shambala Festival Debut
This August bank holiday, we brought our compost toilets and Shower Shacks to the Dragonfly Camping Fields at Shambala Festival for the first time.
Eight showers, 28 toilet seats, one busy camping field.
Dragonfly is the new camping and glamping area for Shambala festival-goers seeking more comfort and convenience in their festival stay, and it has limited capacity. It was a great honour to be invited to service the space with our toilets and showers.
It was busier than we’d anticipated… Exactly the kind of test we wanted. Our zero-water-flush, sawdust-based toilet facilities and hot-water shower shacks ran from Thursday to Monday throughout the festival. No blue or green chemicals, no conventional flush, with the final ‘waste’ from the toilets collected after the event for composting and eventual use as fertiliser on collaborating farms.
Aluminium sinks, SNOAP soap and Naked Paper on every wall
NEW: our aluminium sinks, fitted with SNOAP | B Corp™ soap dispensers. One dispenser, refilled (instead of a parade of plastic sanitiser bottles that need replacing all weekend). It’s a small system change that adds up, and we’re chuffed it came from a conversation with Lisa at SNOAP so early on in our journey.
Every cubicle ran Naked Paper commercial-size toilet rolls in their dispensers. Naked Paper is unbleached, FSC-certified fibre, with no plastic wrapping. On a site this size, the big rolls meant far less restocking, kept the paper dry when the weather turned, and saved our crew hours of walking between cubicles.
It matters that visitors have access to soft, strong, reliable paper and a sink where your hands actually come out clean. Sustainability shouldn’t mean compromise, and at a festival like Shambala, which looks at the systems behind how everything runs rather than just grand gestures, that felt like the right approach.

What’s next
We gathered a lot of feedback at Shambala, from visitors, from our own crew, from festival organisers and from the sheer reality of running a site that big. We’re putting it all into our plans over the winter, ready for the 2027 event season. Expect refinements, more capacity and the same commitment to toilets and showers that are comfortable, beautiful and genuinely low-impact.
